About
Carole Chan
A Moncton lawyer for the past 15 years, Carole works with industry and government in the technology, natural resources (forestry, mining, fisheries), energy (oil and gas, wind, tidal, hydro), food, and culture sectors throughout New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada. She is Co-Chair of the Law Society of New Brunswick’s Equity and Social Justice Committee and past-Chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (N.B. Branch).
Carole is deeply committed to local community-building. She is a member of the City of Moncton’s Enhancing Democracy Committee and a Board Member of the Frye Festival, the largest literary festival in Atlantic Canada. For many years, she was also a member of the City of Moncton’s Planning Advisory Committee and held positions of leadership with Legs for Literacy, Moncton’s premier running event. Carole has facilitated economic development initiatives regarding indoor agriculture in the Atlantic region and recently co-founded Femmocracy Now, a multi-partisan organization based in Moncton, N.B. that strives to advance representation and engagement of progressive women+ in politics.
When she is not cycling between work, daycare and playgrounds, Carole enjoys experimenting with new recipes and exploring the shorelines of New Brunswick with her 3 children.

Governance
Advocated for greater awareness of equity and anti-racism issues at the Law Society of New Brunswick and now appointed to lead a committee addressing the same
Led the organizational re-structuring of a local not-for-profit, shifting from an operational to a strategic board
Co-chaired the development and growth of a firm-wide indigenous law practice group
Executive Direction
Established policies for assessing annual charitable funding applications in the range of $90,000 for a not-for-profit organization
Acted as co-race director for Moncton’s marathon event (2018)

Led service team of more than 10 lawyers and staff for a significant client over several years
Oversaw team of 33 editors for a quarterly bilingual law journal
Political
Finance Chair for a federal political campaign in the 2019 election, where candidate came second with 27% of the vote (increasing the party’s share of the vote by 22% from 2015)
First-time candidate in Moncton-Centre during the 2020 Provincial (snap) election, campaigning in Covid-19 and finishing second in the riding with 27% of the votes (increasing the party’s share of the vote by 15% increase from 2018)
Co-Founder of Femmocracy Now, a Moncton collective that seeks to activate, aggregate and amplify female+ voices in spheres of political power
